I am offering my house & studio for artists to use while I'm away in Hobart staying with my 90 year-old mum and sometimes visiting the mainland.

It's in a little village in northern Lutruwita/Tasmania called Chudleigh, in the Meander Valley on pallittorre country, 15kms from Deloraine.

ONE OR TWO WEEK STAYS ARE AVAILABLE:
- JULY-AUGUST
- 11th-31st OCT
- 12th-31st DEC
<<<NOTE there are some school holidays in there if a family is interested!>>>
There may also be some weeks in May, June & September but I won’t know that for a while.

This would suit visual artists, writers, dancers, musicians (acoustic/not loud), etc.

I WILL PROVIDE:
- accomodation in the house
- large studio space

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
- bedding
- food

I would rather no pets as I love the bandicoots in the garden

<<< NOTE: If you are interested in coming in June-August,, you may like to know that there will be some mice in the kitchen! not in plague proportions, but they will get into any food that is out, so you need to clean the kitchen well every night.. and you may hear some nightly scurrying about. Some years I set mousetraps and sometimes I just ignore them. You can do either. >>>

There is no payment necessary, but I ask that you show some love to my garden! Depending on the season, this may include watering veggie beds, some light weeding and/or mowing the lawn, picking up walnuts, harvesting pears, etc. (no heavy work is required)

There's a double bed and a single bed in the house. More beds can be arranged if a group/family is coming.

There’s a wood fire in the house and also in the studio.

This is not a place for partying but somewhere to focus on your artwork away from home.  It is a very quiet village at night and sound travels a lot, so no loud music at night time please. The house across the road is quite close too!

There is no wi-fi.

My sister and her family live next door if you need to know anything when you’re there.

Travelling by car is recommended as the bus service is very limited. It's a 50 minute drive from Devonport where the Spirit of Tasmania arrives. Also, 50 mins to the Launceston Airport where you could hire a car from.

It's a short drive to many very beautiful nature spots and bushwalks.
