“I can live for two months on a good compliment”. (Mark Twain)
To compliment someone is to give a gift, a congratulatory kiss, a sign of approval.
Yes! You’ve made an excellent decision. You’re dancing in the right direction. Your footwork is impeccable!
Rose Turtle Ertler's Complimentary Caravan is an investigation into the power of words through an ongoing collection of audio and hand written compliments collected in different towns since June 2016. Step inside a cosy caravan and 'bathe' in a soundtrack of genuine compliments recorded from your local neighbourhood. Relax and enjoy an immersive experience of relentless gratitude and encouragement.
RESTORE YOUR FAITH IN HUMANITY!
The Complimentary Caravan has been seen at Mental Health Week in Bendigo, Clunes, Castlemaine & Hobart at festivals - Nati Frinj Biennale (Natimuk), Dream Big (Melton), Waterhole (Newstead), Village Festival (Castlemaine & Melbourne), Junction (Launceston), ChArts (Smithton) as well as Complimentary Lane video projections in Bendigo & Geelong. Rose has also done residencies with the Compliment project at the Museum of Innocence (Mildura) & Wandaround Residency (Bicheno, Tas)
