BALLARAT

Rebel Elders was a collaborative project with ten local Ballarat elder folk (aged 74-95 years old) and a fine collection of young people with an interest in music and/or video making.

The project aimed to challenge misinformed stereotyping of both our older and younger generations.  Through creative collaborations between these two age groups, participants surprised each other with their stories and behaviour. The audience too were invited to rethink their ideas about people of a certain age.

Rebel Elders is an award winning community arts project which has been generously supported by City of Ballarat (through Postive Ageing and Youth Services).  In 2015, it received the Oral History Victoria Community Innovation award & was also Highly Commended for a National Award for Local Government (Excellence in Community Engagement & Participation).
